Whose excited for a new Timothée Chalamet movie this October? Here is what to expect from this new take on a cult classic.
The news broke September 2020 that Timothée Chalamet and co-star Zendaya will be heading to battle in the new spin on classic space movie, Dune.
Let’s take a look at what you should expect!
The Beginning of a New Era
The 1965 novel, Dune written by Hank Herbert rocked the science fiction world and became an instant classic within the genre. Half a century later, a cinematic remake undoubtedly missed the mark.
It is always a difficult task taking a highly revered novel and adapting it into a great film. Unfortunately for David Lynch, his 1984 version of Dune was a flop.
The upcoming remake of Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve and is promised to respect the book’s history while aiming to succeed its legacy. What Villeneuve believes is that in order to do this movie justice it must be broken into two-parts.
Still waiting for the green light from the studio, we will have to wait to find out more on part two of Dune.
Star-Studded Cast With Timothée Chalamet As the Protagonist
This upcoming version of dune boasts a star-studded cast and crew of extremely high profile names.
We can expect to watch Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgard, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin and of course, Timothée Chalamet.
A wonderful thing to be excited about with this new film, is Villeneuve’s feminist approach. He often uses strong female leads in many of his films. His movie Arrive with Amy Adams as the lead has received huge success and praise.
Environmental Awareness
In addition to the fabulous cast, Dune is set to offer deep insights and even predict issues regarding environmental awareness.
The original novel paints a portrait of the reality of what to expect from the current exploitation of the earth. In addition, how capitalism and corruption impacts the planets fate.
The novel was actually inspired by Herbert’s environmental research on the sand dunes of Oregon.
As the climate crisis grows and becomes more devastating, this novel and film’s importance increase.
This film was set to be released December of 2020 but has been pushed backed to October 2021.
We are excited to see where this adaptation of Dune takes us. There is much anticipation to see Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya on the big screen together.
