For some women, it is embarrassing to buy birth control at a pharmacy. Fortunately, there is another method that doesn’t require one to stand in line at a store feeling embarrassed.

The Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate injectable suspension, USP) works for 13 weeks. It is commonly known as birth control shot. It has failure rate of only 1%, and it is highly effective in preventing pregnancy.

Using this contraception one is freed from the hassles of pills, IUD strings for checking, diaphragms or cervical caps. The injected medication works by stopping the ovaries from releasing egg cells. It thickens the uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to penetrate or survive in the uterus. This inhibits fertilization from occurring.
