On Wednesday, Ellen announced that her once favoured daytime talks show will be coming to an end. After many allegations of toxic work environment, it has been decided to call it quits after the upcoming 19th season.

DeGeneres stated that the show was no longer a challenge. However, after years of allegations of an unhealthy environment people are critical.

The ending comes after the huge wake of commotion stirred from staff claiming the show was a toxic workplace. Last summer, reports detailing the unpleasant experiences of staffers came to light.

Several former employees were victims of racism, bullying and harassment from senior producers. The show ultimately fired executive producer Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathon Norman, all which were named in the claims.

did the controversy cancel the show?

DeGeneres stated that “if I was quitting the show because of that, I wouldn’t have come back this season. So, it’s not why I’m stopping.”.

“I’m a creative person, and when you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged.” Ellen told The Hollywood Reporter.

Additionally, the Ellen DeGeneres Show has not actually been cancelled. On the contrary, Ellen has decided to end the show herself.

“I was going to stop after season 16 … they wanted four more years.”

The new season of Ellen is set to start in September and the final episode of her show to air in springtime 2022.
