Do affirmations work? In short, yes! However, there is more to it than just repeating positive statements. There is a lot of work involved with affirmations.

You have probably heard about using positive affirmations and how they can benefit you. But, you are probably wondering how do affirmations work? There is some things you should know before diving in.

First, we need know what affirmations are, how they work and how you can utilize them. It is simple enough that anyone can do them. However, it is a practice that requires constant work and upgrading!

What Are Affirmations?

Affirmations are used in a personal practice of positive thinking. It is different person to person and requires updating and changing regularly. They promote self-empowerment, growth, goal achievement and anything you want really.

The whole idea of affirmations is to develop positive and uplifting thought patterns. Negative and intrusive thinking becomes a habit and often times turns into a spiral. Additionally, using positive affirmations regularly can help break this bad habit.

How Do Affirmations Work?

Affirmations are positive and present-tense statements. They are specific phrases that are meant to challenge or help you overcome negative, self-depreciating thoughts.

Repeat them multiple times a day and use them to counteract negative thinking patterns. Saying them enough will help you believe them which will eventually make it easier and easier to overcome those self-sabotaging thought patterns.

How To Use Affirmations

There are many ways to use affirmations everyday. In order to get the most benefit from affirmations, you have to practice them everyday until it becomes a habit.

In order for affirmations to work they must be in present tense, simple and specific. Using “I am” statements is a great way to start an affirmation.

Here are several ways to get started using affirmations:

Journaling

At any point of the day you can jot down some positive affirmations. Journaling in general is an excellent way to process, reflect and find solutions. Including positive affirmations to your journal boosts the overall benefits.

Affirmation Bowl

An affirmation bowl is just a bowl with a bunch of written affirmations in side it. Spend an hour or two writing down affirmations about anything you want, cut them out, fold and place them in the bowl.

Every day or whenever you need one, just pick one out the bowl. Additionally, the act of writing each affirmation will be beneficial as well!

Daily Mantra

Before you start each day spend 5 minutes saying an affirmation and repeat it all throughout the day. It can be related to anything you want, so long as its positive and uplifting!

Manifesting

Manifesting is the practice of focusing your thoughts and energy towards a specific goal in order to bring it to life. It is essentially turning dreams into a reality. This goal can be related to any aspect of your life; relationships, finances, love, happiness etc.

  2. There is nothing I can’t do.
  3. I accept and embrace who I am.
  4. People treat me with respect.
  5. People value my work and talents.

Affirmations For Success

  1. Everyday I become more powerful and successful.
  2. Others look up to me as a leader because of my confidence and success.
  3. My actions are intentional and they bring me closer to my goals.
  4. I surround myself with people who push me to my best self.
  5. I am living my full potential.
