When a someone is diagnosed with ADHD regardless of the age, the treatment is somewhat similar to the treatment administered to children. However, some ADHD drugs approved for children and teens are not recommended or approved for adults to use.
Let’s take a closer look at how to recognize and treat ADHD.

The symptoms and signs of ADHD in adults may be difficult to pinpoint. Therefore, if a person has experienced symptoms in their childhood and teens, chances are those signals will have continued into adulthood.
Adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder can look different person to person. Some common indications are:

Adults suffering from ADHD often find themselves faced with these types of persistent problems. Unfortunately, due to the stigma attached to mental disorders many adults are hesitant to reach out for help.
How to recognize and treat Adhd
There are several ways to recognize and treat ADHD. However, everyone is different so what may work for one person may not work for another.
Recognizing ADHD
While there is no single test that confirms a diagnosis of ADHD in adults, some tools that physicians use to make a diagnosis include:
- a physical examination (to rule out other physical causes for symptoms)
- conversing and information gathering (asking questions about personal and family history, including the history of mental health symptoms)
- psychological tests
It is important to remember that adults with ADHD tend to be less hyperactive than children. On the other hand, these adults will still struggle with things like restlessness, focus and impulsiveness.
In almost all instances of adult ADHD, an individual experiences symptoms in his or her early childhood, which persist into adulthood. In many cases, a person with ADHD goes undiagnosed as a child and it is only recognized during adulthood. Moreover, adult ADHD symptoms are not as clearly defined as those experienced by children.

11 Staggering Facts About Caffeine
Coffee is a huge player in our day-to-day lives, but do know all the facts about caffeine?
Let’s be real, mornings without coffee just don’t be the same. How do you like your coffee is as common a question as how do you like your eggs. Caffeine fuels millions throughout their day. But, apparently that good stuff is a substance and it’s actually making you addicted. Lets take a closer look at 11 facts about caffeine! ☕️
Caffeine withdrawal is classified as a mental disorder.
In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association listed caffeine withdrawal as mental condition in their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. If a caffeine addict goes without the substance for a period of time, not only will this person experience headaches, but also a lowering in their thinking capabilities. No not my latte!!
You can overdose on caffeine.

Drinking 100 cups of caffeine within an hour can lead to death. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would purposefully drink 100 cups of a caffeinated beverage. A caffeine overdose is more likely to occur if a person gets carried away with drinking multiple cups of highly-caffeinated coffee or energy drinks. Stay away from vodka Redbulls!
We drink less caffeine than we did 50 years ago
Despite the introduction of energy drinks, we still manage to imbibe less caffeine than people living 50 years ago. Today, we are still huge caffeine drinkers. However, instead of solely relying on caffeine for energy boosts as people did fifty years ago, we rely on more natural energy boosters such as vitamins. Work smarter not hard ????

Drinking just 100 milligrams of caffeine daily can lead to dependency.

Caffeine is a highly addictive substance. Drinking just 100 milligrams of the substance daily changes a person’s brain, making the person dependent on caffeine for emotional and physical reasons. There’s 94.8 mg in one cup of coffee ????
Caffeine isn’t as old as most would think.
A little known fact about caffeine is that different plants have contained caffeine for millenniums. Despite this, pure caffeine was not created until 1819. We need fuel for our fire!

The substance can lower your chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

According to the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee, caffeine prevents the buildup of the brain protein linked to the debilitating memory disease. However, this buildup prevention only lasts for four years. Maybe taking tolerance breaks will help with this. What do you think?????
A person’s gender and race can determine the effect caffeine has on them.
Gender and race have been determined as factors in how a person handles caffeine. Men process caffeine more quickly than women. The substance affects the estrogen levels of younger women depending on the woman’s race. Caffeine lowers the estrogen level of white women while raising estrogen levels in Asian women.
Caffeine can improve your athletic efficiency.
Caffeine obviously provides an energy boost. However, a fact about caffeine is that might not be obvious, is that it has the ability to increase a person’s muscle strength, reaction time and concentrations.

Some people are allergic to caffeine.
Unfortunately, some people cannot drink caffeine. Some people display a hypersensitivity to the substance when drunk, experiencing upset digestive system, the jitters, and anxiety. There are a rare few though who are actually allergic to the substance. They develop hives every time they come in contact with caffeine.
Caffeine gives you not only a physical boost, but also an emotional one.
Caffeine, let alone any substance that gives a person more energy, improves a person’s mental state.
the final fact about caffeine is that 1 latte has more caffeine than most energy drinks.
The average latte can contain up to 175 mg of caffeine, while the average energy drink contains up to 80 mg caffeine. Again, nooo not my latte!

Despite its highly-addictive quality, caffeine likely will forever be a part of the typical person’s workday. Hopefully, these facts provide further insight into the substance you may drink on a daily basis.

People say that the pawpaw tastes like toasted custard mixed with mango and banana. The best way to eat a pawpaw is straight from the tree. One should scoop out the inside and eat it raw.
However, you should avoid the skin and seeds, as they are known to cause intestinal issues. Pawpaws begin ripening in late summer. They are ready for picking between late September and October.

The CLoudberry
The rare cloudberry is only found in northern parts of the United States. The fruit requires extremely cold climates.
Ripe cloudberries turn a vibrant orange colour, and they have a taste that is like a sour and sweet apple all in one.
The fruit is also high in vitamins A and C, and it can help prevent colon cancer. Cloudberries start becoming ripe in mid-summer, and they can be found through October.

The American Persimmon
The American persimmon is a rather common fruit that can be found in many southern states. The fruit is orange-red in colour, and it has a delicate sweet flavour that is best when the fruit is eaten straight off the tree. The fruit is often used in pies, jams, puddings and molasses.

hedge apples
These apples are large, bumpy fruits that somewhat resemble lemons. Despite their name, they are part of the mulberry family.
This fruit is native to the Great Plains. While hedge apples themselves are practically inedible, their seeds however are delicious. They supposedly taste remarkably similar to sunflower seeds.

The white Sapote
The white sapote was brought to the United States by Franciscan Monks. It was traditionally a Mexican fruit however, it is grown throughout California.
The fruit is about the size of an apple, and it is yellow in colour when ripe. It is best consumed raw, and its taste resembles creamy tropical custard. The fruit is sometimes used as a sedative due to its calming effects.

The huckleberry
Named after one of Mark Twain’s most famous characters, the Huckleberry is a small berry that is found in northwestern areas of the United States.
It is often confused for blueberries due to its appearance. Huckleberry season typically lasts from August through September.
Conclusion
So all things considered, whichever of these fruits you try, be sure to take advantage of the season to taste something new and unusual! You might just find your new favourite fruit!

Normalizing Equestrian Safety With Airbag Vests
1 year ago, Catherine Winter started Ride EquiSafe – The one-stop-shop for all your equestrian safety needs.
Catherine Winter’s riding career has primarily been in the hunter/jumper discipline. However, upon deciding to add eventing to her repertoire, Catherine had to borrow a safety vest for her first cross country schooling. At the time, safety equipment wasn’t as popular in the hunter/jumper ring as it was in eventing. Eventually, this led her to buy her own safety vest and thus her research began.
Deciding on the right vest was no easy feat. Winter checked out multiple retail and online stores but kept coming up short. This lead her to fly to Kentucky for a 3-day event to shop a trade fair. Finally, she found a vest that suited her needs.
Due to her difficulties finding the perfect vest and because equestrian safety vests started to gain popularity amongst other riding disciplines, Winter started her own company. This company will sell only protective equipment and nothing else. No tack, no flashy clothes, or grooming gear – just safety equipment. Ride EquiSafe was launched in the fall of 2020 during the pandemic and carries the largest selection of equestrian safety gear in North America. You can find body protectors, airbag vests and compatible clothing as well as safety stirrups.

The model Ride EquiSafe follows is similar to the method used for custom-saddles. Instead of having a physical store, Winter brings a mobile-shop to horse shows and events. Not only that, she also hosts a party called “Say Yes to the Vest”. She brings her products to a private facility and provides educational information to all the attendees. Winter’s goes over the different brands, types of vests and everything else a rider would need to know when deciding what safety gear is right for them. What is more fun than sipping a mimosa, talking about horses and equestrian safety equipment?
Because Ride EquiSafe started in the middle of a global pandemic, it was an uphill challenge. However, Winter’s stock carries such a wide variety of brands, styles and products, she has managed to find soaring success. Winter makes remarkable efforts to meet every single customers needs and get the right equipment into their hands.
Winter’s short-term goal is the continuous investment in her business, while her long-term objectives are to have Ride EquiSafe at events all over the country to normalize equestrian safety one vest at a time.
“We, as an organization and as a sport, will have been successful if people prioritize their safety. We need to recognize that safety equipment is not going to have a negative impact on a ribbon, and what does a ribbon count if you have a permanent injury?” – Catherine Winter
Ride EquiSafe Continues To Gain Support
A Ride EquiSafe customer, Amy Trent, is also working to normalize safety equipment within the equestrian industry. Trent bought her vest from Winters after her 11-year-old daughters friend was injured at a show. Trent, who is also a nurse practitioner, credits Winter for her support and knowledge while helping her find the perfect safety vest.
“The company was just fantastic. She basically narrowed down by my daughter’s size, how much she weighs, what her figure looks like, and found one that was the best for her and fits her well. It’s not super heavy, and you don’t really notice it until you get up close.” – Amy Trent
The safety gear Winter provides is highly personal and specialized. She gives her customers the opportunity to touch and try multiple products before they purchase. Winter hopes that her personalized take on customer service makes her shop the number one choice for equestrian safety equipment.

Is Horse Racing Cruel? – The Ugly Truth
It’s one of the most famous and beloved sports across the world, but is horse racing cruel? It is well known that race horses often face abuse, injury and illness, but what will it take to put an end to this popular sport.
Horse racing is a highly romanticized sport but behind the scenes, these horses face injuries, drug abuse, mental and physical breakdowns and eventually slaughter. These horses are forced to sprint and high speeds often from whipping and even electric shock. If that’s not enough, what happens back at the stable is even worse. Here is everything to know about the sport that could very well be animal cruelty.
Is Horse Racing Cruel?
Horse racing has been scrutinized for many years for being cruel and abusive. However, it is still a prevalent and popular sport all over the world. Many upper-class individuals own or bet on race horses at the expense of their well being. These horses are not treated like animals but objects or toys used to please humanities need of competition and money.
Risks Of Injury
There is a long and horrifying list of injuries that plague the sport of horse racing. Jockeys get injured quite often, but horses face injuries at a much higher rate and are rarely able to recover. These are just some of the injuries race horses face daily:
- Bone, muscle, tendon and ligament damage (broken bones, fractures etc.)
- Osteoarthritis
- Lung and breathing issues
- Cardiac arrest
- Internal bleeding
In Australia, one horse dies every 3 days, most often from extreme limb injuries, heart failure or internal bleeding. From 2017-2018, 119 horses died on the track.
What Happens At The End Of The Horses Careers?
Depending on the type of horse and condition they are in, they can be rehomed, used for breeding or slaughtered. According to the RSPCA, 19% retired Thoroughbreds are rehomed, 18% for breeding and 6% were sent for slaughter. However, 9% of retired Standardbreds are rehomed, 16% are bred and 17% are slaughtered. Most race horses finish their careers before they reach the age of 8 years old. That is well below the age of retirement for any other discipline. On average, dressage and eventing horses can often perform into there 20s.
Are Race Horses Housed In Isolation?
Horses are herd animals and thrive when being social. However, many race horses are housed in close confinement. This type of isolation causes severe distress to the animal and can cause behavioral issues. Many of these horses display crib biting (repetitive oral fixations) and weaving (repetitive behavior where horses sway or shift back and forth). All of these behaviors are due to poor socialization and stimulation.
Tongue Ties
Tongue ties are used to prevent the horse from getting their tongue over their bit during a race. It is meant to prevent choking during high intensity exercise. It makes the horse easier to control. However, the use of tongue ties causes pain, anxiety and stress for the horse. They make it difficult to swallow, they can also cause cuts, bruising, lacerations and swelling. They are widely used and unregulated.

So, Is Horse Racing Cruel?
Is horse racing cruel? The answer is pretty obvious. Most horses enjoy being worked and having a discipline. However, racing involves excessive force, unregulated practices and often results in death or severe injury. Although there is risk in all disciplines, horse racing has the highest rates of fatalities and causes the most damage to the horses well being.
Many animal rights movements have protested the sport and there are many growing efforts to ban it entirely. Do you think horse racing is cruel?
